THE SCIENCE OF
SOUND
At Nāda Sound Spa, we integrate science-backed techniques to create sound journeys that support whole-system recalibration.

HOW SOUND AFFECTS THE BODY AND BRAIN

Brainwave Entertainment
Rhythmic, harmonic sounds can shift the brain from high-frequency beta waves (linked to active thinking and stress) into slower alpha and theta waves associated with deep relaxation, meditation, and clarity.

Nervous System Regulation

Specific sound frequencies activate the vagus nerve, helping to switch on the parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest mode). This lowers cortisol levels, supports digestion, and promotes a state of physiological calm.
Cellular Resonance
Each part of the body has its own optimal frequency - like instruments in an orchestra. Prolonged stress or trauma can cause your cells to fall out of harmony with each other which can manifest physically, mentally and emotionally. Vibrational sound therapy helps to "retune" these cells and systems, encouraging a return to balance, flow, and optimal functioning.

Neurochemical Support
Sound exposure has been linked to the release of neurotransmitters and hormones like serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin – all of which enhance mood, reduce anxiety, and increase a sense of connection.

Documented Benefits of Sound Therapy
Scientific research and clinical observations have shown that intentional sound therapy can lead to:
-
Lowered cortisol and reduced stress
-
Improved sleep quality and rest
-
Decreased pain perception
-
Increased emotional regulation and mental clarity
-
Enhanced immune function (through improved vagal tone)
Nāda’s Therapeutic Approach
We design each sound journey with intention, precision, and care. Our instruments are chosen for their resonance, tone, and ability to support nervous system healing:
-
Cello: deep, grounding frequencies that calm and stabilise
-
Handpan: hypnotic, melodic tones that soothe the mind
-
Singing bowls: crystal and metal bowls that shift brainwaves and create vibrational alignment
-
Flutes and chimes: soft, high-frequency instruments to open the heart and settle the system

Who is sound healing for?
You don’t need to understand the science to feel the shift.
Sound therapy is for anyone who wants to:
-
Recover from stress and burnout
-
Sleep better and feel more rested
-
Process emotions without talking
-
Regulate their nervous system
-
Reconnect with inner peace
It’s also a powerful modality for founders, leaders, and teams under pressure who need to reset and return to clarity.
